Disney World Magic Kingdom Day 1

We were originally planning on doing a cruise to the Mexican Riviera. Joe and I love to travel, and work extra shifts so that we can do so. But do to Covid 19, the cruise was canceled. And by then Joe's shifts were already given away and he had to take the time off. So....Disneyworld were offering amazing deals! We had always been interested in either Disneyworld or Disneyland but they were always so expensive. So we figured this was our time to go, or we probably would never be able to go another time. Weighing the fact that we wouldn't be able to meet the characters/princesses (which is every boy/girl's dream), no fireworks, no parades....We still thought it would be worth the trip. So we flew to Orlando (which is a crazy long flight), got our Jeep rental within 15 mins of being over our time slot, and headed to our hotel at Holiday Inn. We were so excited!!

Day 1 We chose to go to the Magic Kingdom. Again, due to covid, you had to book which park you were going to in advance, and you couldn't park hop. I'm not going to lie, the lines were already crazy and wrapped around! I was not expecting it to be that bad. We had been to Disneyland, but this (and they were supposed to be down to a third of their normal visitor number) was awful. But we finally made it through the gates!!

And we had to wear masks all of the time....the kids were not happy and complained a lot! Which I couldn't blame them because it was in the 90's and humid.

Joseph's favorite ride was Buzz:
"Not Today, Zurg! Buzz Lightyear’s arch-nemesis from Toy Story 2 is stealing batteries from helpless toys to power a new weapon of destruction. Become a Junior Space Ranger and help stop Zurg! Board your XP-37 star cruiser and voyage deep into the Gamma Quadrant, where you’ll take aim at the glowing “Z” targets with your infrared laser cannon. Use your cruiser’s joystick to spin a full 360 degrees, so you can blast all the targets in sight. Do you have what it takes to stop Zurg and his rampaging robot army before it’s too late? The fate of the universe is in your hands!"

We also drove cars, the kids loved driving their own vehicles.

The Mad Hatter Tea Party ride was one the kids didn't want to go on, but I begged them to. I remember riding it when I was 8 and have my pictures. So I needed my pictures of the kiddos too! As you may notice, sometimes one kid isn't pictured....that's because they wouldn't let me....story of this vacation!

We rode the Winnie the Pooh ride. It was so cute how they had attractions with so much detail. It made standing in lines a little bit more enjoyable. Well done Disney!!

Addie loved seeing Ariel, and would talk to the various characters as we walked through. But she was upset that Scuttle wouldn't talk back. Joe told her, "It's because Disney gave them lines, and if they varied from that they would get into trouble." Brilliant! Both kids truly believed in the magic of Disney, and the characters and rides were real!

Probably our favorite animals are the birds. They are so fun! We don't have the variety in Idaho that Florida has.

We rode the Peter Pan ride, and as we waited we could see Tinker Bell flying around, getting stuck in the chest. When it was our turn on the ship, a cast member sprinkled "pixie dust" and off we flew. Kids truly make this experience magical.

We saw Cinderella's Step Sisters Drazella and Anastasia. That was our first Character meet and we were excited!

Just taking fun pictures of Jack and the Bean stock.

While we were using the bathroom, we were excited to hear music and find an impromptu parade of the Villains come through. It was our favorite parade of all of the ones we saw. We also like the song "It's good to be bad". So cute!

Gaston:

Queen of Hearts and Captain Hook (Also one of Joseph's favorites!)

The Big Bad Wolf

The Evil Queen

My kids were pretty good throughout the day. Lines were long, it was hot, masks were uncomfortable and hurt ears. All in all, we had a magical first day and were more prepared for the next time we entered the gates of the Magical Kingdom.

Day 2 was Saturday....which meant we decided to spend the day outside of the parks. Initially we were going to drive to the beach and enjoy the ocean. But we were already pretty tired and wanted to relax. So we spent the day swimming at the hotel, we shopped at a few outlets along the streets, and got some supplies to help out ease our time waiting in lines at the park. We got toys, umbrella (for sun protection), key chains, because why not? shirts....mommy got a visor....any way to save some money I am game! And we were ready for success!!
