I guess it's a good sign when you go to a destination and you say to each other, "this is my favorite! It will be tough to top this!" and then the next one you say the same thing. I think that we just LOVE traveling and seeing the various places and the beauty they offer. We never can get enough
We decided to take the kids to the first Port at Cabo San Lucas, their first time setting foot outside of the United States. Unfortunately, my phone got wet, and we lost ALL of the pictures up to that point....Oh well, such is life!
We decided to save some money and see if we could get a water taxi to the beach...and that also offered a tour around the rocks.
This is the itinerary: Board a boat to Land's End where you will find a series of granite rock formations just off the southern point of Cabo. These formations are rumored to be at least 30 million years old and are ecologically vital to the area. Upon arrival, visit the iconic Arch, Lover's Beach and all the Insta-worthy rock formations. While here you can watch sea lions basking in the sun, sea birds soaring overhead and marine life teeming in the waters below you.
The kids did not enjoy the water tour at all. And it was a long, stressful ordeal. But it was incredible and beautiful. We finally got to the beach, and it was so crowded! And not only with tourists, but with persistent vendors. Also the waters were a bit turbulent and we kept stressing about the kids and whether they were going to get pulled in by the undertow. So we watched them and kept them just a couple of feet into the water. But it was fun and we enjoyed ourselves. We decided that this was the last time we would take the kids off the ship, until they get older at least.
Port 2 Mazatlán: We chose to go on a private island and enjoy the beach there. It was so nice because we didn't have all of the vendors to hustle us and we got to enjoy swimming and laying out on the beach together. There were others that came with us as well, but it was pretty nice. A couple of times when we were swimming along the beach, we saw schools of silvery small fish come swimming towards us, some even seemed to fly out of the water. It was really neat, but at the same time we couldn't help but wonder what predator had them acting like that....It was beautiful there.
Port 3 Puerto Vallarta: was probably our most favorite. All though we were disappointed because we were supposed to go on this pirate ship, but they had announced it was canceled a few days before we were to go.
So we decided to do a water tour and snorkel excursion that would also take us to a couple of beaches, and even a hike to a waterfall. As we were on our boat headed to where we would snorkel, we saw a turtle swimming in the ocean by the coast. That was a fun surprise!
Things we saw while snorkeling (we found out we are HUGE snorkeling fans and wished we could have stayed there for hours): Eels, puffer fish, clown fish,
We saw this Pirate ship...and had to wonder how this was going, but ours was canceled...?
After we snorkeled, rode a banana boat, and swam at the beach for a while, we then went to a remote town called Yalapa....Our favorite town we've ever been too. It felt like we had stepped backin time, and also got a view of what life was like without a lot of technology. There were cobble narrow streets that wound it's way up to the waterfall. I couldn't help but get carried away with the scenic views and the local life there. A spider web, there were these huge spiders with webs throughout our hike up to the waterfall.
We came to this river and crossed it to get to our final destination, a beach. And perfect timing! A caravan of donkeys were crossing the opposite direction.
On our way bac, to the ship our guides dressed up and gave us a concert of various, so hilarious and entertaining. It was, by far, one of the best experiences we have ever had.
When we got to the Port, I bought this tile hand painted from a local artist. It was so fun to watch him.
