Joey is 1 mo old

I can't believe my baby boy is one month already!  Blows my mind,  and yet a lot seems to have happened that I almost forget what it was like before we had him. He LOVES being held, and cries the second he is put down. He is very snuggly which I love except when I need to sleep or pump. We have found that the swing buys us 3-5 hrs if sleep, so that is nice. We are still working on nursing. It seems to be a constant trial for me and my babies. I am hoping for that to change soon. It's hard taking care of a newborn that cries when they aren't being held, has a hard tine nursing, a 15 mo old who wants to play/needs attention, and pumping enough to keep my supply up. But all in all, we have 2 wonderful sweet babies! We love them so much

He seems so small to me, I don't know what I would do with a smaller baby. My favorite thing is when he lays on my chest, on his tummy, with his arms folded under his little head. His cute little face and hands Melts my heart! I also remember having him in bed with me at the hospital, tucked in my arm. His arm rested on my arm, like he was a big kid, not hours old. Such a cute little man. He is opening his eyes more, they are so big and blue, blue, blue! I would be surprised if he didn't stay blue eyed. He has dark brown hair, but it almost looks like it is lightening. He is adorable. Joe's favorite thing about Joey is his big blur eyes. He also things his skinny chicken legs and small bum are cute too. We are always surprised how different our two babies are. But they are both adorable in their own way.

He is getting so strong. He has a lot of neck strength and can almost hold his head up by himself. When he is lying awake on his tummy in my arms he pushes off with his legs, trying to climb up my chest. He has been eating 3-4.5 oz of breast milk. His second day he had jaundice and weight loss, but he is doing and looking so much better.

He was blessed the 29th of March by his father in Lehi 20th ward. Those in attendance were: momma and bug sister Addie, Grandma Linda Hebdon, Aunt Stephanie and Uncle Jeff Bare family, Uncle Kevin and  Aunt Rachel and family. It was a very special day and he was a perfectly behaved baby. We were so proud!

St. Patty's Day and our Adaline is 15 mos

The Loyd's (Joe's mother's side) are Irish. I love that, and so I have made it my goal to celebrate it for our family. I can't wait to do some fun things when our kiddos grow up. But until then, I will be content on silly hats. We went to my family's in Arimo because I needed help to watch Addie while I was still re cooperating from my C-Section. They were sweet to help me out.

Adaline, our baby girl doesn't seem like such a baby any more. She is growing up so fast. She has barely started to wear shoes and they make her seem older then ever. We really wanted her to get used to them for playing outside. We bought her shoes for her birthday, but she wanted none of that. But now after a lot of encouragement and some tantrums, she loves them. So that's exciting.

She is also such a good big sister. She has learned to not mind Joey's cries as much. One time in the car I heard her try to comfort him. "Shhh, shhh, no no." It was pretty cute. She loves rubbing his soft hair on his head. She also likes to be held while he is being held. She likes to point at his features and "oooh, ahhh" over him. And most of all she likes stealing his binky.  They both have the exact same kind, so who can blame her?

Her new thing is walking on her tip toes. She cracks me up. One time she had one shoe off, so she walked around on her tip toe with her other foot to balance her out. She is always doing new things and being silly.
She is a smart girl. She knows how to turn knobs. For example she is obsessed with my breast pump and likes to turn it off and on, taking advantage that both my hands are busy. She wants to play with everything BUT her toys.

She went in for 15 mo check up. She is 25 lbs 15 oz and 31.5 in tall. She is staying pretty consistent with her growth curve. She is pretty cute, and loves all of the attention. She loves smiling and flitting with strangers. She had no fear, which makes me nervous that someone could kidnap her and she would not fight or cry at all.

Her grandpa Hebdon has started growling with her and gets the biggest giggles from her. He loves that about her and is always telling me he is amazed how pleasant she is and that i am so lucky. I agree, she is pretty special. Most kids would get scared, but not Addie!  She can growl with the best of them.

Joseph Evert Johnson is here!!

We are excited to announce that our baby boy is here safe and healthy. However, there was some excitement before his big day. I went in for my appointment Feb 4th and had an ultrasound. They estimated him to be 9 lbs 6 oz right then, so the Dr estimated him to be 11 lbs by 39wks. They also saw that I had too much amniotic fluid and sent me to specialists at Maternal Fetal Medicine.

So we went there, 2 wks later and they got 9 lbs 2 oz. LOL, considering he should gain .5 lbs a wk, not too confident in ultrasound right now. And I had gained 10 more cm of fluid to total 30cm. That's double what I should have. Oh, and he was lying sideways when 2 wks ago he was head down. So after checking over and NST'S (non stress test) we made sure he was healthy. But he kept moving to different positions.

So we went in for a scheduled C-Section Feb 27TH at 7:30. I was always hoping he would move head down, but he never did. However things went smoothly and he was born 8:05 am 9 lbs 4.5 oz 20.5 in long. He was wisked away, I only got to kiss his face, and didn't see him for 2 hrs. I hated that. I wish I could have held him skin to skin and nursed him right then like I did like Addie. But Joe was with him the first hour and got to feed him some formula (his blood sugar was too low, but I believe that's because I has to fast for 12 hrs). So that was special for Joe. They also bathed him, too. I wish so many things could have been different, but I am grateful he was alright.

He has brown hair and deep blue eyes. They remind us of Addie so he might stay blue eyed. I was told by a lab tech he had the most perfect head. I guess that is a positive about having a C-Section. He is very loud when he is unhappy, but has a sweet spirit. He just likes to be held and rocked ALL of the time.

Grandma Hebdon (my mom) came up to help with Addie and between her and the Bare's Addie was in heaven. Our visitors at the hospital were Grandma Hebdon, Stephanie, and Jeff. They brought me a beautiful bouquet of flowers. Joe also brought a beautiful bouquet of flowers and some balloons. It was fun to have visitors. With Addie we lived far away and mom was recovering from her back surgery.

We went to his 2 wk Dr appointment March 13th. He is almost free of jaundice, yah! He gained back his 10 percent weight loss. He also was circumcised,  poor little guy. The doctor said they have never had a circumcision go so smoothly. Joey slept through most of it.  He did such a great job for the visit. What a good boy!

Addie is 14 mos

Adaline Mabel Johnson

She is so muzuch fun and getting smarter everyday.  She knows her stuffed animal "Molly the Moo Cow". We were watching a baby program on TV and a cow came on. I said "Addie! It's a Moo Cow!" She ran over and grabbed her stuffed animal. I a didn't know she understood that much. So I am working on helping her know her other animals.

Her favorite TV show is "Notekins". She enjoys books but gets frustrated being read too at times. I don't know if it's because she wants to do it herself? Anyways she enjoys throwing the ball, or anything really. She has a pretty good arm. We just might have a softball player on our hands. She is also doing better at taking a nap in the middle of the day. It's been such a good thing for her and me. She is doing better in her carseat since we turned it to forward facing. She is always jabbering and I wish I could understand her.

With her stuffed toy "Gerry the Giraffe". She likes to hold their ears or tails up to her nose. So cute.

Valentine's gift from us to her. She really liked him. And held him for awhile.

She discovered her belly button. It was so cute and sad at the same time. She was very concerned and kept trying to grab it.

We went to the Orem mall on Joe's day off. Addie LOVES the slide.  She wanted to go up and down nonstop. I can't wait til I am not pregnant so I can run around with her better. We will see how I hold up with a newborn and her energy.

We love our baby girl! She is so much fun and has so many wonderful qualities.

Addie is 13 months

This little girl is nonstop, go go go. She makes me exhausted, but she is happy and healthy so those are great things. When we go to church or other public activities, she is so excited to see people. And kids/ babies are her favorite. Unfortunately the kids/babies aren't as excited to see her. Either she gets so excited her squeals causes them to cry, or they get protective of their toys and snacks and guard them for her. It makes me laugh sometimes to see other's reactions to her, but it also makes me sad. All she wants is to make friends and play. We often get the comment of "Wow, she is a social one." I guess we will take their word for it, since we know nothing else. But we do notice other babies her age sitting quietly in the corner playing with a piece of fuzz or sitting contentedly in their parents lap. Not Addie! She hasn't done that since she was 6 months if not longer.

Although I am often so exhausted from being pregnant and taking care of this active girl, she makes me smile and laugh more often then not.

Things about Addie:

• She has taken to chewing on furniture, which is devastating to her beautiful crib. It makes me sad, and I have tried to cover it in various ways, but they don't work. I need to find the time to make bumper pads over the rails. She also uses mommy as a chew toy, which really hurts. She has even make me bleed. But I am the only one so far, so that's a good thing.
• She finally got her 8th tooth!! I feel like she has been actively teething for 2 mos with on and off night wakings, wanting to be held, red gums.  I would rather get teeth in then have them come and go. 
• She has started to use the garbage as her toy box. LOL I have to be careful and keep an eye on her. I have caught her putting her kitty mini blanket in the kitchen can, which has a swing top. I never look to see what is in there. Although I am likely to just leave it in the garbage, yuck!! But this morning she tried to throw away the remote too.  
• She loves to side walk, mostly to her right. She has been doing this for over a month and I forget to write about it. She sticks her tongue out and slides as far as she can go. It reminds me of the basketball defense stance. She doesn't quite spin, but she moves around in a circle. I am surprised she doesn't get dizzy. She is quite athletic for her age.
• She can reach to the edge of tables, counters, TV stands.... and she now understands that she can use toys, boxes, and whatnot to climb even higher. Makes for even funner times for us parents to keep an eye on her. She can also climb into the couches, so now remotes, glasses, phones, whatever are no longer safe anywhere. 
• Like I have said, she is very social and happy baby. She is eager to smile at people and have them smile back. The other day we were at Grease Monkey getting an oil change and an emissions test. As long as she was free to run around and chatter she was happy. There was a guy in his 20's there that ignored her, while every one else oohed and awed. Addie just kept walking over to him, smiled, tilted her head so she would be in his view....NOTHING. LOL she just stared at him. I feel bad because no doubt he was annoyed. But what do you do?
• She still is learning on how to talk. She still says dada, mama, no, num num. There are times I swear she is singing. It's so cute. She uses a softer voice and the words run together and she holds the notes sometimes. 
• She is a very big eater. She LOVES food, and all of it's variety. We have yet to find something she really won't eat. When she was younger she didn't like fruits, but now she likes them too, especially grapes. She tried her first orange, and loved the juicy tartness. The only thing we can think of was a Chinese Buffet we ate at. She would a eat a few bites here and there, but not like she usually eats. My sister Stephanie commented that she eats more then her 8 year old daughter. It's true!! I figure if I offer good things, she can have how much she wants? Now she isn't "fat" or overweight. I have seen some of those babies. She is just very solid. Many people are shocked about how heavy she is because she doesn't look it.
• We are working on switching over to Vit D Whole milk. Unfortunately it has been slow. She still prefers formula, even when we mix the 2. But I am not going to complain because formula is so convenient. She has also improved her sippy cup drinking. She is starting to actually swallow the water instead of spitting it all over her clothes. She is pretty cute to listen gulp down some swallows and then take in a deep breath. What a character =0)
• She is a good night time sleeper. She will usually go to bed between 7:30 and 8 and lately sleeps in between 7:30 or even sometimes 9. It's so nice because I have a hard time sleeping with Joey 9-1. So it gives me a few more extra shut eye time. She has been off and on with naps, but I have found that if she goes down between 11:00 or 12 she will sleep for 2, sometimes 3 hours. She fights having 2 naps a day, so I figure this works best, for the most part. She has never fallen asleep playing. I hear and see pictures of this, and I envy that at times. But overall she is a good sleeper (mind you, she woke up at 2:40 this morning and is still up with no tiredness in sight, it's 5:30).
• She LOVES stairs. She has crawled up them at church and that was enough for me. Well now we have a split level apartment and the last month she has discovered how much she loves going up them. She is so quick too, I can't keep up with her. Not to mention I get tired of always being in arms distance for hours on end. One time I was sitting down and I looked away for a minute. I hear her squeal just to look up and she is dangling from the side. She somehow found away to fit between the banister and ledge. Good thing she is strong and held herself up while I raced to grab her. We had to get creative to make up a gate that worked on a metal railing. I HATE STAIRS! She has already pulled the hooks out of the wall to the point they won't hold at all. Once again, I HATE STAIRS!!
• She has been going to my sister Stephanie's quite a few times since we moved, and she loves it. She loves her aunt and her cousins. She likes her uncles too, but seems a little bit more reserved with them. I think being in daycare has made her "need" to be around others more so then babies who don't (an example are kids at church). I need to figure out ways for her to interact. The library does reading time, but only 2yr and up. All of my friends and even family have kids that are so much older that their schedules/interests are complete opposite. Therefore I am working hard to get to know ladies in our ward. But that becomes impossible when I am constantly out in the hallway with Addie. I wish she could go to Nursery, she would love it!! She would thrive with the playmates.

Christmas 2014

We were able to set up our Christmas tree and stockings a few days before the day, thanks to my sister Stephanie's help. It made such a difference! We still had boxes to unpack, but who cares, right? Christmas decor must be up!!

Joe started his first day of work on the 22nd at LDS Hospital in SLC. We were pleasantly surprised to find out he will be working day shifts. That will be so nice to have the same sleeping schedules with the kiddos. He seems to enjoy it and likes who he works with.

Unfortunately though, on the weekend the furnace went out. So we had to get some space heaters and called it in on Monday. And it just so happened that it rained like crazy and started to leak in our front room that is a partial basement (our apartment is a split level). So we had to call that in as well, and pack up what was in that corner as well. So much for unpacking...

Joe got Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Years Day off, which was so nice to be together. It was our second Christmas with Addie. Christmas Eve we went to the Bare's for dinner and The Nativity Story. Jared was Joseph, Aimee was Mary, Alyssa was a shepherd, Stephanie was a wiseman, and Jenna and Addie were angels. It was fun to be with them and enjoy family. All of the kids opened their gifts from Grandma and Grandpa Hebdon, which are PJ's. Addie had fun with the wrapping paper and bows.

Santa visited us and Addie got a rocking horse, 2 books, and a wallet.

We gave her Legos and a Christmas dress. She really enjoys all of her toys. She looks adorable in her dress. I will have to get a picture when she wears it next.

The 28th, Kevin's family and Mom came to visit for 3 days. It was so much fun to be together too. Unfortunately Joe got sick again and didn't get to play as much. Plus he had to work. But Addie loved all of the attention. We even went swimming at the recreation center in American Fork. My favorite were the nighttime when we could play games. I love playing games. We don't get to do it much when we lived so far away. 

It was a wonderful Christmas!! I wish we didn't have to move during it, but it was so nice to be closer to family and do traditions with them. We are so grateful for all of our many blessings, for an apartment, job, family, Addie, and Joey coming soon. We are grateful for the Gospel and the depth of meaning it adds to our lives. We are grateful for our Savior who experiences everything for us so that we could have faith in the Atonement, repent, and work on being better. And we are grateful for  loving Heavenly Father who created this plan of Happiness, and that we can pray to Him for comfort, guidance, and direction.

May all of you feel the Spirit of the Season throughout the year and be blessed.

Joey is 29 weeks.

Everything is going great with the pregnancy. I have kept trying to get a 3D ultrasound of him, but he just won't cooperate. Now that we are moving, I won't apply for a job until he is around 3 months old. So I will be going through withdrawals of not seeing him.

I feel like I am as big I was with Addie at full term. I still have 2 plus months left!! He has been very active. And sometimes his movements are a little bit painful. But I enjoy feeling him move. It lets me know he is ok. I also have been having contractions occasionally when I am really stressed out. It has happened a couple of times at home and once at work. So I figured it might be for the best. But once I lie down and relax the contractions go away after 15-20 minutes.

I had my manager look in on him on my last day at work, the 12th. He was approximately 3 lbs and measuring in the 97%. He will be a big baby like his sister. I worry a little bit but in the big picture it's nice having a healthy baby. We didn't have to worry a lot about Addie when she got sick, and we are hoping for the same with Joey.

He looks really healthy, his heart, cord, fluid, and we are always excited to hear that news. We love ya baby boy and want you to keep growing and staying safe. We have a Dr's appointment Jan 16th, so it will be interesting going to another doctor. I am nervous with having bad experiences in the past. So I am praying for a good experience. I have chosen a group that I remember liking when I worked in labor and delivery years ago. Everyone I worked with went to that group too. So fingers are crossed =0)

Adaline Mabel Johnson is 1 year old

Adaline crawled into the basket by herself while we were moving. Such a cutie.

Our cute little girl has turned 1 year old before we knew it! She is full of energy, squeals, laughter, smiles, and personality with an occasional tantrum. She is such a sweetie pie, we love having her in our family.

Her first Thanksgiving was her and I at home. Daddy had to work so we planned on having a real dinner with family on Saturday.  So it was at Grandma Sally's and Uncle Phil's in Nampa, ID. Grandpa Gary arrived for a day too, but I didn't remember to get a picture with him. It was fun to see her interact with her grandparents and she felt comfortable with them from the get go.

"Num, Num!!" is what she says when she eats food. That bird was huge!! and nummy!!

It's hard to believe a year has gone by already, but in some ways it's hard to remember life without her. We went into the hospital at 7:30 to be induced and 24 hours later Adaline Mabel Johnson had her debut at 7:34. There have been many wonderful moments mixed in with stressful ones. Overall, it's been a blessing having this sweet spirit in our home.

We had been to a few birthday parties of babies her age, and so I was wanting to throw one for her too. But then moving time got in the way. Makes me sad that I didn't get that in for her. I will try to make up for it next year for sure!

I had been packing stuff throughout the 3 weeks on my days off with Addie, but it takes so much time. Grandma Hebdon and Uncle Kevin came to help us move Monday-Wednesday. Wow, I thought we had things pretty well organized. a few people from the ward helped us out Tuesday morning, ahead of our plans but that is when we could get help. That morning Daddy got very sick with the stomach flu and that lasted 6 days, so fun. After 3 days of serious packing, it was Addie's birthday!!

She got her 12 month shots right on her birthday. Poor little girl, what a birthday gift. Grandma Hebdon came with us and had tears in her eyes too. I didn't think about it affecting Grandma that way. But she just loves her babies and feels their pain. It was actually very sweet.

We pulled out at 6:30 p.m. and stayed at Grandma and Grandpa Hebdon's. . When we got there, it was pretty late so we headed off to bed. The next morning Aunt Rachel, Kevin, and Caleb were waiting for us with Grandma and Grandpa to open her gifts and eat cupcakes made by Aunt Rachel. Addie seemed to like the frosting except for the mess it made on her hands. She was pretty darn cute. We will add pictures that Uncle Kevin took for Mommy.

Grandma and Grandpa gave Addie a snuggly blanket and pink stuffed elephant. She loves soft fabrics and immediately enjoyed. The Hebdon's gave her a Donald Duck that dances around to "Polly Waddle Doo Dah Day" and gets mad when you pick him up by his ears.

She is a real pro at walking and tries to go faster and faster. She loves side stepping around the room and has even learnt how to walk backwards. She loves making noises with her tongue and mouth. She and her Daddy will be erupting into giggles at church doing those noises and others join in.

She loves playing with doors and cabinets, often times shutting us out of the room. She rocks back and forth, we think this is her way of dancing, so cute. She still doesn't like wearing clothes, but gets over it quickly once she is set free to play around. She still loves formula and isn't switching over to Vit D milk yet. She does enjoy adult food more and more.

Everyday she surprises us with something funny or amazing that she has learnt. We love our baby girl!!

We are moving!!

We have been trying since Joe graduated to get closer to my side of the family. We just think with the little ones it would be fun for them to have cousins. And both Grandma and Grandpa enjoy seeing Adaline. But most especially with Joey and Addie being so close, it will be nice to be closer for me to get help once in awhile.

Joe got a phone interview with LDS Hospital in Salt Lake. As always, he dominates at interviews and people automatically like him. So they wanted to meet him in person so they could see if he was a good fit, and if he liked it there. So Nov 5th we drove 5 hrs, all three of us. The next day we realized we had left Joe's dress pants on the stair rail at home, so we rushed to Walmart to buy a pair. I dropped him off at the hospital and drove to Bountiful to visit a friend, Andrea Walker. We have been friends since IHC housekeeping days, and it was fun to see her and her 3 kiddos. She was willing to watch Addie while Joe and I planned to do a session in the SLC Temple, but I locked myself out of the van, long story! So Joe has AAA, but they told him he has to be present at the time. So Andrea drove us to SLC to get Joe, drove back to her house. They got the van open, we headed to the Temple, and it started to lightly snow, and was suppose to storm in Idaho. So we decided to only do sealings.

We were able to Seal Grandma Ruth and Grandpa Evert Johnson (something must have happened the first time we did this) and then some of Grandpa Chucky Loyd's family together.  It was a pretty sweet experience. We sat in the sealing room where we were married and sealed for time and all eternity alone. It's the sealing room in the back that goes up the stairs. We said a prayer and headed on our way back to get Addie. Then we drove through some icy roads and made it back. Joe had to work early the next day.

Although it was a crazy experience, I am so grateful Addie and I were able to go with Joe. And I am so glad we were still able to go to the temple. We both felt good about our plans and hoped for the best.

A week later on a Friday Joe got a phone call offering him the job! We were so excited! It's nights, 7 days on and 7 days off. It will take a lot getting used to, but worth the sacrifice. We will also be taking a pay cut and I don't think I will work til Joey is 3 months old. But again, worth the sacrifice.

I left Addie with Joe and Daycare and headed to Utah. I met my mom and we stayed at Stephanie's home Sunday. We saw a few places Monday and Tuesday, found a few promising options and are just waiting to hear back. We looked all over from Layton to American Fork (where Stephanie lives). We have a place in American Fork as our top pick and one in Bountiful. And we have a guarantee in Bountiful. We are hoping AF works because it would be awesome living close to the Bares. But if Bountiful worked out we would be close to my friend Andrea.

We are excited to also be close to temples. Living 1.5 hrs from the temple (I know so many would love to be that close) but with a baby it's hard to leave for a minimum of 5.5 hrs. Our goal is to attend once a month.

Our last day here at work is Dec 12th, and Joe's first day is Dec 22nd. So Utah, here we come, again!!

26 weeks and Joseph is very active

So far, everything is going really well with Joseph. We have reached the satge where I feel him all of the time, Daddy can feel him, mostly at nights, and even Grandma Hebdon felt him kick 3 times. He is a lot of fun and it's always a relief from the first 18 weeks or so when you just have to trust that everything is ok. Granted, sleeping  or falling asleep is more difficult but it's worth it.

Joey is a lot like Addie, active at night. I am sure that is because I am still at that time and therefore more aware of him. It seems like I don't sleep as well with this pregnancy, always waking up around 3 and having a really hard time going back to sleep. I guess it's a way to get used to waking up again. At least now I can get an hour or two nap in when Addie does too. That has been nice.

I feel really good, just tired all of the time. I feel Braxton Hicks so much more with him, I am sure it's because I don't have a lot of time in between pregnancies. My doctor, same as Addie's Julie Lyons, said I am a higher risk for preterm labor. So when these times happen and they are painful, I lie down and take a break, drink water. It seems like it happens more when I am at work or stressed out emotionally.

I don't get to look in on him as often as I would like only working 2 days a week and most of those days I am so swamped. But every once in awhile I get a peek at him and love seeing the heart beat. Here are some photo shics I have been able to get recently.

I took these at 25 weeks. He was weighing in at 2 lbs, though it's hard to really get a good measurement when you scan yourself. His heart rate is 144 bpm. He was measuring around 91%.

We love you, Joey and are excited for when we get to see you. But take your time and grow. I think your big sister Addie will love you so much. We were at church in Arimo and there was this baby boy. She walked up to him, chatted and squealed. She got him to giggle and smile. Then she rocked him in his carseat. You two, I think, will be best of friends.
