Getting Ready for School

The pictures may be a little out of order....So forgive me! It has been a crazy summer with Covid, working full time, and getting both kids ready for school. So bear with me as I go along....

Joseph (he really wants to be called Joseph instead of JoJo, so I have been really trying to call him that as well as refer to him with others Joseph) started Flag football in the fall. He loves to run around, tries hard to follow instructions, and is pretty happy to be with his friends. This was his first organized activity besides swim lesson, so it was pretty exciting! His team was made up of First Graders and Kindergarteners. He was the tallest Kindergartener there.

He's the furthest on the left of this picture:

He started Kindergarten, and loves his Teacher Mrs. Lewis, his class, PE, and art. He came home with these cute puppets:

Also, he has been doing really well keeping his pull- up dry all night. As a reward we took him to Build A Bear and he got to pick out an outfit, smell, shoes, and toy. It was an exciting day for us all!!

I'm not sure what this picture is telling us....but don't they look so cute!! Fun new school clothes!

The first day of school broke my heart....Joseph had a runny nose and cough! It literally started the night before school. With Covid, I didn't dare take him into school....but tell a Kindergartener that without tears! And I sat in his room, holding him and crying too....So this was him for his very real first day of school Which was the following Monday August 23rd. Goodness he has grown up!

August 19th Addie's first day of First Grade, rocking the mermaid pants and unicorn shirt....she loves colors!!

We went to celebrate school starting the next day.... like I said, these are out of order... We went to an Chinese restaurant and Joe tried the octopus....yuck!

Addie tried some too...

Joseph held it, but never tried it...I don't blame him...

Our Neighbors sold fresh corn on the cob, and it was a hit!

Orientation day: Addie wasn't planning on being able to go, but with her anxiety....we worked her into seeing where her class was. I think it helped her feel more confident starting school again.

Joseph with his Kindergarten Orientation. I was able to take him in to meet his teacher, set up his stuff, and see his desk. He handled it like a champ!!

Meeting Mrs. Lewis for the first time. We actually requested her. We had heard so many positive things about her, and one of her strengths is teaching how to read. We felt that was important for him to start with. We couldn't be happier with her!

Little by little, we are making our house our home. We have painted the downstairs mainly white except for the accent wall in the living room. It really brightens the place up and helps, it seemed so dark before!
Also our wood door was looking tired and weathered. I told people I wanted to restain it...and all I heard from other's is that it's a lot of work and to just paint it. So I figured, why not? So this was us trying to choose a color. The main house is a light yellow with an olive green trimming. I didn't know which direction to go... at first I thought a plum color would look great....

But then it felt like too much. So I asked other's opinions and these were the top color of choices they gave me....

And people kept saying do a blue...And I kept thinking blue with green and yellow? But I tried it....

And we fell in love with it!!

Someday soon I hope to get shutters and paint them Blue was well. It going to look so pretty! Eventually we would like to add a front porch, but that's a big project we're a little intimidated to do. And there are so many other things we want to try to do before.

The end of July....I got Covid!! This is literally the night that I started to feel maybe...just maybe a little bit sick. I had worked all day and had a headache. But since Thanksgiving I had headaches pretty much everyday...like bad headaches. So I thought nothing of it. We had a babysitter set up...we went bowling in Nampa and had a fun time. I'll be honest, I suck at bowling! I try to have fun. This is the second time we have gone since we moved to Idaho, but I just can't really enjoy it. But being with Joe, I can enjoy anything with him.
Anyways I was trying to be careful to watch what I touched and keep my hands sanitized. And I noticed my nose was stuffy...by the time we were going home I was plugged up. Joe picked up Chinese to go, and I couldn't taste a thing. So I joked around....and the next morning I was thinking I have a cold. I better get tested. Sure enough, Monday rolled around and I was positive. SO I had to Quarantine myself for 10 days, and my family for 14 days.

Truly I would have only called in sick Saturday, but with Covid, we needed to be careful. That's why I got tested. So I made cloud play dough with the kids....and they loved it!

We spent a lot of time outside, kids splashed in our tiny pool...and demanded to have hot cocoa!

We did bike rides and tried our best to stay sane while safely quarantining. Joe still had to go to work because he was an essential employee. A couple of days he seemed to have a cold and couldn't taste or smell anything....we called into work and he was told to get tested. So he got tested and it came back negative. So he had to go back into work. We are pretty sure he had a false negative, considering how contagious it is, and there's only like a 65% accuracy. But we tried to follow the rules. Besides him going to work we were stuck at home the whole time. It's a good thing it was summer so we could enjoy the outdoors as well.
